HAWAR AMINI / Nishtiman

In cooperation with SILK ROAD GALLERY, Tehran/Iran

May 5 - June 10, 2017

In his new works Hawar Amini deals with his homeland: Nishtiman. Using black and white photographs as a base and artistically processing them is a technique that has repeatedly appeared in Hawar Amini‘s works before, for example in his series about Kurdish people. In his actual series he uses archival images and footages related to Kurdish historical events and copies, alienates and paints over them while leaving the historical moments captured in the photos recognizable. His mixed-media paintings and videos convey these moments to the viewer‘s mind, colourful and monotone at the same time, intense in their substance and beautiful in their visual presence.

Hawar Amini was born in 1981, Marivan, Kurdistan, Iran. He holds a painting Certificate from Esfahan Art University, Iran and an M.A of Painting from Tarbiat Modares University, Iran.
