March 4 - April 22, 2017

For this exhibition the Hinterland gallery will be transformed into the studio of Syrian artist Adel Dauood. He will create a monumental work, influenced by memories of the past, of war, pain and cruelty in his home country Syria. His memories are being transformed into painting – on a huge wall. These beautiful artworks combine figures and abstract painting and try to make the visitor understand the artists feeling and fears.

Adel Dauood was born in Al Hassakah in 1980 and is currently living and working in Vienna. He finished his education at the University of applied arts in Damascus and Al Hassakah in 2011. In 2014 Dauood was chosen by a jury to be part of the group exhibition titled „Die Zukunft der Malerei“ by Essl Museum.  In 2015 he had solo exhibitions at hinterland gallery and Kleine Galerie. In 2016 his work was part of the exhibition “Borders” in Artemons Contemporary Linz and Galleri V58 in Aarhus, Denmark.
