Iran. A country of endless, extraordinarily impressive landscapes where you sometimes experience the feeling that time does not really exist. Yet around you, time expresses itself in the constant change of the present. This is especially evoked when you are by the Caspian Sea and the lake „Urmia“, a salt lake in the Middle East, where you witness the exceptional beauty and grasp its enormous importance for the people living there. Not withstanding it‘s mesmerising beauty, this lake is shrinking and Iran‘s politics on water resources make this landscape a never-ending political and social issue in Iran. Beauty and disaster lying asymmetrically close to each other.

Another view on Iranian life is presented through a selection of photographs taken by urban photographers from Iran. By capturing the landscape from different angles and lenses as well as working with different techniques to capture their subjects, each artist‘s own unique vision manifests to tell us stories of time and space, of growth and permanence, as well as stories of the impending environmental crisis and the resulting desolation of our times.
